Once again proving Long's campaign for Congress is about Billy Long's big ego, Long showed up to the Drew Brees Steak & Steak Dinner at the University Plaza Convention Center last night. The Boys and Girls Club of Springfield uses the annual event to raise funds for their operations costs.
It was confirmed by multiple people last night that Billy Long brought his black and red Billy Long for Congress stickers hoping people would wear them on their clothes for the night's event. Excuse me Mr. Long, but this fundraiser isn't for you. There are some events where the politicos should just shut up. As I have heard around Springfield, when it comes to charity, no matter the event, Billy Long has a history in Springfield of making the event about himself. This is exactly what happened last night from the first Billy Long for Congress sticker offering.
So crass is another word we can use to describe Billy Long. His lack of etiquette will continue to embarrass Billy Long in closed conversations. If Billy Long makes it to Congress, his lack of crass will embarrass Southwest Missouri.
Geez, Billy, does it always have to be about you?
The fallout continued after the event as a couple GOP insiders contacted me to let me know the organizers weren't particularly happy with Billy Long, who weren't the first to be upset with Billy Long for turning an event into a campaign rally for the auctioneer:
The board members who organized this even are mad as can be that Billy tried to turn this into his own event for self-political gain.
So anyway, Billy Long was schmoozing this week at the Boys & Girls Club legislative luncheon with the same people he upset earlier when he decided to turn the Drew Brees event into the Billy and Brees event:
