The Grateful Dead Earmark: $165,000 to Digitize Grateful Dead Catalog at University of California Santa Cruz

Senator Tom Coburn has released his annual list of wasteful earmarks. Topping that list is the Grateful Dead earmark. Topping that list, the University of California Santa Cruz received $165,000 to promote the stoner music of the Grateful Dead. You know, "ridin' that train, high on cocaine, Casey Jones you better watch your speed."

The $165,000 earmark went to the University so they can digitize their Grateful Dead music catalog, which is beyond me since all I had to do was go to YouTube and pull up Casey Jones, Truckin', and Touch of Gray for free.
