Something I Saw on the Side of the Road: Reminds Me of the New Spirit of America

Remember the days when American meant freedom? You know the wide open road, a 1969 Dodge Charger with a Hemi, the Beach Boys, and the drive-inn movie theater located off some of the most famous roads in America. Yes those were the days.

Now we have CAFE standards which our government tells us we can't drive cars like that anymore. Heck we can't even travel these days without being harassed by the federal government in one form or another, whether that be the TSA at the airports or the federal government refusing to allow American companies to develop our own oil as countries like China horizontally drill to reach our oil, and you know it is probably getting sold back to us as we pay higher prices at the pumps. Yes, the spirit of America in the wide open road is dying, and perhaps there is some irony in what I saw sitting on the side of highways BB and Z just outside of Willard, Missouri a couple days ago.

The spirit of the travelling American is being flushed by our government. Yes, this is what I saw sitting on the side of the road. It just seems fitting considering.
