Billy Long Panders to the Fair Tax Group: Long Isn't Willing to Fight for Fair Tax as Evident in KZRG Interview

Billy Long and Eric Burlison spoke in front of the Fair Tax group in Southwest Missouri, or is that Billy pandered to the Fair Tax group. Long says he would like to repeal the federal income tax in exchange for a national sales tax known as the fair tax. While this is all good, I remind the Fair Tax group of two things.

First Billy Long's campaign Web site is wishy washy about the whole Fair Tax/Flat Tax system. It reads:

Billy will always support tax relief and will vigorously fight congressional liberals when they seek to increase taxes. Billy is open to either a flat tax or a fair tax as a way to fix our tax system.

So as he is pandering to the Fair Tax people, his campaign Web site shows he really doesn't have an opinion on which method of taxation is better, fair tax or flat tax. However, as a small-business owner in the real estate market, ask yourself this one question about Billy Long. Knowing the tax loopholes Long surely takes advantage of to reduce his taxation, why would he want to take a chance of paying more in taxes with a fair tax or a flat tax. Surely Billy Long is aggressive with his deductions as a business owner one would think.

More importantly, I ask you do you really believe Billy Long will go to Washington and fight for the Fair Tax? The reason why I ask is the federal income tax which was enabled thanks the 16th Amendment was passed in the same year as the Federal Reserve Act and the 17th Amendment. I recall not too long ago where the reality of Billy Long's pandering rhetoric and the true passion in Billy's big belly was exposed. When it was exposed Constitutional conservatism didn't win.

Here's an interview from October 14, 2010, on KZRG, which Long shows he isn't willing to go to Washington and fight to repeal some of the oppressive parts of the Constitution like the 17th Amendment, which robbed states of states' rights.

Billy Long says he would like to see the 17th Amendment repealed, but he knows it will never happen. In other words:

So if he is this quick on giving up the fight to repeal the 17th Amendment, why do you think Big Billy will fight the IRS and the Federal Reserve and work to repeal the 16th Amendment to put the fair tax in place. He is pandering to you. The fight is too big for a dolt like Long to take up, but he will be sure to give you the sound bites you want to hear to keep you smiling when he is in the district, because for big Billy Long, it's all about getting reelected now. In case you didn't know, his campaign for reelection began just ten days after he was elected this past November.
