Will Jim Talent be a Part of Mitt Romney's 2012 Presidential Campaign

Most Republicans expected a decision by now from Jim Talent as to whether he will challenge Claire McCaskill for the Senate seat he once held. While it was once thought Talent was the main contender, it appears less likely he will run for the Senate after Sarah Steelman announced she was running for the Senate. In fact, an recent article in Politico points to Steelman's history of running nasty campaigns against fellow Republicans as one of the reasons Talent may opt out of the 2012 GOP primary, which is sad since Talent is really the more qualified of the two--hands down.

Some are speculating Talent may hold a position in the next administration. He currently works with the Heritage Foundation on military matters. It is also being reported today that Talent is currently on a trip to the Middle East with potential GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney. Talent was in Dubai during the weekend representing the Heritage Foundation and will join Romney for meetings with leaders in Israel and Jordan.

So it appears Talent may be part of the Romney presidential bid.
