"Big Ears" is Israel's Version of the United States Echelon

Echelon has been a source of huge controversy surrounding the Fourth Amendment in the United States. Many politicians won't talk about it, but those who have say all digital communications are routed through Echelon and monitored for keywords that may be of interest to US intelligence. Why this sounds good to fight terrorism, the average citizen should know their calls and digital transmissions are monitored as well.

James Bamford researched Echelon, specifically its post Cold War use. Bamford writes that Echelon can intercept content inspect of telephone calls, fax, e-mail and other data traffic globally through the interception of communication bearers including satellite transmission, public switched telephone networks (which once carried most Internet traffic) and microwave links. Combine this with what you know about the Patriot Act, which eases restrictions into wiretapping in the name of national security, and it should be no surprise how easy it would be to use this technology against average freedom-loving Americans. Let's not forget, Obama beleives the United States government, despite the Fourth Amendment, should be immune from all law suits filed against the federal government that stem from the federal government's use of wire tapping technology.

In a parallel world, it turns out Israel has their own version of Echelon known as "Big Ears." This news video exposes the capabilities of "Big Ears." Now think about what this technology means to your Fourth Amendment right.
