Chicago Man Fired for Wearing a Green Bay Packers Tie to Work

Take that you Packer scum fan!

John Stone was fired from his Chicago job. His crime? He wore a Green Bay Packers tie to work following the Packers NFC Championship victory over the Chicago Bears.

Now was the firing justified? Yes and no. Stone works with the public in Oak Lawn selling government bailed out Chevrolets. Obviously, no Bear fans are going to buy cars in a Chicagoland parking lot from a lot which allows their sales reps to dishonor the home team by promoting their vicious rivals. I get that. Why not ask him to take off the tie and wear another tie.

Well, according to Stone, he was told to remove the tie or get fired. He chose to get fired. The lot also told Stone he hadn't been meeting sales quotas, which obviously the tie wasn't going to benefit his sales for the month. I get that.

But what about the First Amendment? Doesn't he have the right to wear his tie under the First Amendment? Well the Chevrolet dealer doesn't ensure his First Amendment right, and they have the right to promote a dress code that benefits their business. You can't be upset with the car dealership considering.
