Stupid Bipartisanship Tone of SOTU Address Comes With Partisanship Tales

Sometimes I think Republicans are just stupid. Take for instance last night. After two years of being shut out of any type of debate that resembled an effort of bipartisanship with Democrats in charge--including being totally shut out of the healthcare debate in committees--the GOP decided it was time to forgive and forget, holding hands with Democrat rivals during Obama's State of the Union Address. Advantage: Obama.

Did you notice how the floor of the House looked like people were giving President Zero a standing ovation across the entire chamber? Under normal circumstances, the huge Republican majority would be seen sitting down with frowns, but under this layout, it gave Obama an advantage. Of course, Obama failed to deliver any energy in his speech to take advantage of this weakening of the GOP's new majority. It wasn't all that bad.

There are so many tales that need to be told that exposes this illusion of bipartisanship as pure Washington B.S. Take for instance former Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Republican Eric Cantor decided it was Nancy Pelosi who he wanted to hold hands with during the SOTU. He invited Pelosi to sit next to him during the speech with a formal invitation. Pelosi responded. She responded with a tweet.

“I thank @GOPLeader for his #SOTU offer, but I invited my friend Rep. Bartlett from MD yesterday & am pleased he accepted,"

A Tweet? Seriously? This is the new tone in Washington.
