South Carolina Republican Governor Nikki Haley Upsets the Unions: No Place for Unions in South Carolina

Unions in South Carolina have filed a lawsuit against Governor Nikki Haley of South Carolina. They claim that she has been hostile to unions. Now isn't this funny? Don't unions have a history of being hostile to twist the arms of the companies they work for? Ever heard of a strike and the incidents that occur during a strike that may be considered hostile against an employer?

International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers and the South Carolina AFL-CIO all say that Haley is suppressing the unions' free speech, free association, and due process.

Noting the destruction of American jobs caused by union greed in places like Detroit, Haley's office issued a strong statement.

"We believe there's no basis to this suit, and if the machinists are offended that the governor doesn't think unions are a good thing in South Carolina, they're just going to have to get used to it," said Gov. Haley's spokesman Rob Gregory.

The governor has been working to ensure the health of Boeing's new 787 Dreamliner plant. Knowing the aircraft industry is looking at China for cheaper labor, there has been a fight to keep the plant from unionizing.
