The 2011 Ford Mustang and Shelby Cobra the Way it Should Be: Retrobuilt Motors in Missouri

Nothing symbolizes American freedom more in my opinion than the American muscle car screaming down Route 66. The American experience is about adventure and the ability to travel about. I guess that's one of the reasons I am a car guy. While I am not a huge Ford fan (I have always had a love for classic MOPARs like the 1968 Dodge Charger or a Hemi Challenger) it's hard not understand the significance of the Mustang in American culture. I thought Ford did a nice job restoring the Mustang to a respectable resemblance to the originals, and then they went and changed the front and rear ends of the cars again. I am not a fan.

Luckily, there is Retrobuilt in Marshfield, Missouri. I was lucky enough to see their vision of the Mustang driving around in Ozark yesterday. When I saw the hot red Shelby pull in, I had to ask about the car. This was no normal Mustang wearing the Shelby badge. This was something much cooler, and I usually don't care much for custom cars that take away from Detroit's original concepts, but Retrobuilts are special. Just take a look.

These are all current generation Mustangs given new life with a '69 soul. The details to the original are amazing. I wish I had a close up of the Cobra Jet intake on their version of the Mach 1.
