CPAC Produces Conservative Hypocrites: Michele Bachmann Receives Following Days After Voting Against the Constitution

Oh how quickly the message and goals of the 2010 midterm elections are forgotten by Republicans. Anyone remember what that message was?

Didn't it have something to do with restoring the Constitution driven by the defeat of the Constitution. Oh, but how quickly that was forgotten as most of the Republican freshman voted to extend the Fourth Amendment killing Patriot Act. Do you realize the percentage of freshmen Republican legislators voting for the Patriot Act outnumbered the percentage of experienced Republican legislators in Congress who voted for the Patriot Act extensions? This fact alone concerns me. Remember many of these Republicans like Kristi Noem and Billy Long ran as Tea Party members, yet they voted against the Constitution for more intrusive government that comes with the Patriot Act.

I bring this up because it was Michele Bachmann who suggested members of Congress get Constitution for dummies classes before this new Congress began. Do you remember Bachmann recommending these Constitutional classes before the session began?

Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann says she plans to host classes on the Constitution and the Bill of Rights for fellow House members when she returns to Washington.

Bachmann tells Fox News Channel host Glenn Beck that she has "laid the foundation" for constitutional experts to teach the weekly classes.

She says she'll invite new and returning members to attend. She says the lessons will remind them what they stand for and help them resist pressure to do business as usual.

One of the names that came up as the Bachmann Caucus attempted to build these classes was Judge Napolitano. You know the same Napolitano that gave the speech, "why the Patriot Act is unconstitutional."

So I guess my question is, since Judge Napolitano is clearly against the Patriot Act from a Constitutional standpoint, why is it Bachmann, who wanted Napolitano to teach these Constitution classes, vote for the Patriot Act? It appears to me Bachmann stepped in it big time last week as did most of the Republicans who voted for the Patriot Act. Has Bachmann become a DeceptiCON?

What bothers me, judging from descriptions of CPAC is how many people call themselves conservatives and gave Bachmann a pass on her Patriot Act vote last week. Do these conservatives at CPAC support big intrusive government too? Listen to the Washington Post describe the energy around Bachmann this past weekend.

Bachmann's speech kicking off CPAC had the crowd on its feet and she was regularly surrounded by a cadre of admirers everywhere she went at the convention.

Let's see here. Bachmann is so admired by the Tea Party, that she addressed the Tea Party after the State of the Union. I thought she had become a strong advocate for the Tea Party movement, and had quite the Tea Party following, which I am sure was probably seen at CPAC this weekend. Why? Why after just a few days after she voted to finish killing off the Fourth Amendment does this woman have any admirers. She seems like a hypocrite to me, and for those who followed her and ignored her Patriot Act vote, what does that say about you?

Do you really believe Bachmann deserved a free pass? If anything, CPAC attendees should have demanded Bachmann to enlist in Judge Napolitano's Constitution class rather than thinking she has it down and the others need it more than she does.
