Illinois Governor Pat Quinn to End Aid for 55,000 Alcoholics and Drug Addicts to Save State Budget

My adopted home state of Illinois is broke. Years of liberalism and deceptiCON Republicans have spent the state to near insolvency. Public service pensions are part of the problem, but of course there are other issues that continue to bankrupt the state.

Illinois has been quite liberal in the treatment of alcoholics and drug addicts. This has cost Illinois taxpayers millions. Now those programs are on the chopping block to keep the state out of insolvency, and Governor Pat Quinn (D) is on the hot seat.

Mail Online reports:

Tens of thousands of Illinois residents are expected to be affected when drug and alcohol treatment and prevention centres across the state have their budgets cut from March 15.

The harsh budget cuts, proposed by Illinois governor Pat Quinn, who is a Democrat, will mean that from next month, all state funding will be cut.

After that date, only federal (national) Medicaid dollars will be available to fund the state's drug and alcohol treatment and prevention programmes, which means that some centres are facing closure.

Up to 55,000 residents will be affected by the budget cuts. I just have one question here as Quinn is taking some heat. What happened to personal responsibility in this country? Why is your personal choice and behavior my problem? If you are one of these 55,000 people, you made this choice for yourself. Quit robbing taxpayers for your weaknesses.
