Funny, Dems Shut Down Government in Indiana and Wisconsin, but Warn of Federal Gov Shut Down

The hypocrisy of Democrats is well on display. Let me explain. Across the United States, public service union pensions and benefits have put many states dangerously close to insolvency. We see in Wisconsin how governor Scott Walker is attempting to avoid that by following in the footsteps of a Democrat, Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

Roosevelt warned of and opposed collective bargaining rights of public service workers. Now Walker is trying to limit those rights to get Wisconsin back in the black. Which has led to the protests, in which the Democrats walked out of the state house and hid in a Chicago resort, thus shutting down the Wisconsin government.

Now, other states are following the protest. In Indiana, Democrats also walked out rather than vote for anti-union legislation, thus shutting down the state government.

Yet, Democrats are warning of all the dire consequences if Republicans don't vote to increase the debt ceiling, approve another debt-building budget, and shut down the federal government.

In the Senate Harry Reid, who normally waves a white flag, is fighting hard for no surrender--that is to keep the government from shutting down. Of course he is preaching doom and gloom politics if the federal government were to shut down. (As if adding to the $14 trillion debt is a better idea to avoid doom and gloom Mr. Reid?)

Reid called on House Speaker John Boehner (R., Ohio) to “stop drawing lines in the sand” and “work with [Democrats] to negotiate a responsible, long-term solution.” In the meantime, until an agreement can be made, Reid said he plans to introduce a “stop-gap” resolution that would keep the government funded at current levels for 30 days.

So, it's okay for Democrats to bring the state governments of Indiana and Wisconsin to a stand still, but if the federal government is shut down, well, then all hell is going to break lose. Is that what I am to understand Mr. Reid?
