The Perfect Winter Storm 2011 Weather Update Southwest Missouri

The night was quiet. The perfect winter storm was about 12 hours late from the time it was originally predicted to hit Southwest Missouri. Right now we have freezing rain falling that is more like snow, and it doesn't appear to be making the thick layer of ice yet the weather forecasters feared. Still, there is a lot of it in the area and the storm is just getting started.

It appears Interstate 44 separates the ice from the snow, although the snow is widening in parts of Oklahoma. We are under a blizzard alert, which is something that is new to Southwest Missouri.
