Emotions Ready New Gun Control Laws for Congress: Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.) to Introduce New Gun Control Laws Today

Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.)fresh on the emotions of Saturday's tragic shooter is readying to introduce new gun control laws in Congress as early as today. Without considering it wasn't the gun that shot these people, but rather the sick mind of Jared Loughner, McCarthy is ready to push her bill on pure pathos without any look at what drove Loughner to his decision on Saturday.

“My staff is working on looking at the different legislation fixes that we might be able to do and we might be able to introduce as early as tomorrow,” McCarthy told POLITICO in a Sunday afternoon phone interview....

“Again, we need to look at how this is going to work, to protect people, certainly citizens, and we have to look at what I can pass,” McCarthy said. “I don’t want to give the NRA – excuse the pun – the ammunition to come at me either.”

She isn't the only one ready to rush to judgement and infringe on your gun rights. Over 99% of the gun owners in this country would never consider what Loughner did on Saturday, but the Democrats are using their emotions to overlook that fact. It's been well documented that when honest people have guns, crime goes down. Yet, Democrats appear ready to come after your guns despite the Second Amendment giving Congress no authority to place limits on gun ownership.

Pennsylvania Rep. Robert Brady doesn't just want to infringe on your Second Amendment, he is ready to follow McCarthy and go further by putting limits on your political free speech. He will introduce a bill that would make it a crime for anyone to use language or symbols that could be seen as threatening or violent against a federal official, including a member of Congress.

So who is going to pass judgement on what a symbol means and the level of threat? See the can of worms that will get opened? A symbol protected by the First Amendment may now be enough, if Brady gets his way, to convict you of a pre-crime. We are watching the pathos of Saturday's shooting drive some members of Congress to rob Americans of their freedoms, and it's clear none of these people are thinking clearly as one of their own was the victim.
