Democrats Putting Pressure on Billy Long not to Take His Federal Healthcare Insurance

I believe part of the reason Billy Long ran for Congress is because of the bad real estate market and the unknown of where the market is heading. That's what Long basically told the Springfield Business Journal in December 2009. Serving in Congress gives Billy Long the opportunity to suck off the federal tit for retirement and health benefits.

Now the Democrats are using those benefits to attack Billy Long and Vicky Hartzler. In fact, they are demanding Long and Hartzler turn down their federal benefits. The Politico writes:

The Missouri Democratic Party has a hit out on new Reps. Vicky Hartzler and Billy Long, calling on them to reject their Congressional health plan. “The question is: Will Vicky Hartzler and Billy Long reject their federal health insurance plans or will they show themselves to be true hypocrites, who believe they deserve better health insurance than the people of Missouri?” Missouri Democratic Party Chairman Craig Hosmer said Friday.

This comes on the heels of the national party planning a similar push. Per The Hill’s Michael O’Brien: The DNC “will ratchet up pressure on Republicans who ran against health reform, the signature accomplishment of President Obama and congressional Democrats, who are now accepting a government-run health plan as part of their benefit package as a new member of Congress.”

Now wait a minute, in defense of Billy Long... Billy Long likes a lot of what Obamacare has in it. He has even said so. Will this be Billy Long's way out of the title of hypocrite this time?
