Perhaps the greatest sign of the oxymoron that is the freedom tower is the police state that will be assigned to constant patrol of the building. ABC News reports:
Nearly 700 city cops will be assigned to a new command dedicated to policing the Freedom Tower and surrounding area, NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly said Tuesday.
The World Trade Center Command will not be fully staffed until Ground Zero is completely rebuilt.
But the 673 officers that will eventually work out of the new command will give it substantially more manpower than any other NYPD precinct.
No doubt, the area will also see an increase in federal government cameras watching everyone coming within half-mile or so of the "Freedom" Tower. Big Brother watching New Yorkers and tourists constantly--because this is a federal building. What kind of security will be required to enter the Freedom Tower? Will the Department of Homeland Security feel your junk or nake a naked image to get into the compound?
Perhaps, we should ask our Congressman to reconsider the name of the new government owned tower soon to rise in the New York skyline. It sure doesn't sound like a symbol of freedom to me. Of course, you might have to worry about your Congressman turning your name to the FBI if you complain about this truth.
