GOP Rep McClintock Realizes Last Year's Vote for Patriot Act Was a "Terrible Mistake"

Rep. Tom McClintock has come out against Republican support for the Patriot Act. The California Republican has admitted supporting the last round of Patriot Act extensions prior to this week's vote in the House was a "terrible mistake."

McClintock told Fox News:

"A year ago, I made a terrible mistake and voted to extend those provisions of the Patriot Act," he said. "But the more that I learned, the more that I researched, it became crystal clear to me this that this is not only an affront to our bill of rights, but it's a fundamental challenge to our freedom."

Billy Long Your Attention Please: please yell if you are paying attention.

Your pocket Constitution may be "rode hard and put up wet" but you obviously haven't been paying attention. Let's review what McClintock said so you might possibly correct the errors of your way (and there are plenty).

The Patriot Act "is not only an affront to our bill of rights, but it's a fundamental challenge to our freedom."

McClintock went on to say about the boogyman that is justifying our federal government robbing Americans of their rights:

"They're afraid of terrorism and an organized fifth column in our country, but look at our history," he said. "We have faced far more malignant and powerful governments and far better organized networks of spies and saboteurs in this country before without having to shred our constitution. This is no time to start."

I wish he was right from Lincoln to Roosevelt, federal politicians have shred the Constitution. Now it's time to put our foot down and fight back. I support McClintock and will continue to fight with him to make sure our federal Constitution is no longer shredded. I hope you will join me, and that includes you Mr. Long. Prove you are really tea party and quit supporting big tyrannical government.

Thanks for having the courage Representative McClintock to admit you were wrong and correct your "terrible mistake."
