The big news today is the new dolt serving as Obama's press secretary is calling the stimulus a success. Jay Carney, who took over this week for Robert Gibbs, who went out with a framed tie Obama borrowed and failed to return (remember Obama is horrible at giving gifts--remember what he gave Queen Elizabeth--an iPod), told reporters the goals of the stimulus have been met.
From Real Clear Politics:
White House press secretary Jay Carney says the Recovery Act added several million jobs and lowered the unemployment rate. According to Carney, the "goals" of the stimulus package "have been met."
A reporter asked Carney why unemployment is at 9% and not 7%, the percentage projected if the stimulus worked. Carney dismissed the question. "We've said repeatedly that we don't want to relitigate the battles of the past," Carney told the reporter.
So he claims it worked but when challenged, he avoids that despite the claims the $800 billion in stimulus created millions of jobs, unemployment continues to rise. And we thought Gibbs was a silly man. How long to you think this guy will last?
