Schools across the country are giving up more local control. The scary thing is, after years of failure from the federal government to improve education, producing programs like No Child Left Behind, they are looking to the international community to develop curriculum and policy.
Here in Ozark, Missouri, the school board continues to push the International Baccalaureate agenda without any transparency, avoiding the concerns of many parents and members of the community. There is a reason why they are doing this--the IB maintains an anti-American, globalist value system that indoctrinates its students. I have documented this in detail in many articles you can find on this blog.
Here is something that concerns me. When teachers and students enter the IB program, they are asked to sign a contract called the Faculty/Student Agreements. I want to share with you these agreements so you can see how the teachers are forced to teach this anti-American rhetoric.
Here's the faculty agreement:
Faculty Agreement of Understanding
As a faculty member involved with the International Baccalaureate Programme, I understand and agree to adhere to the following:
•I agree to follow the IB guidelines for my subject area.
•I agree to teach to the grade-level benchmarks in my subject area.
•I agree to keep in contact with students, parents, counselors and the coordinator about students’ progress. I will have a conversation (via e-mail,in person or on the phone) with parents of students with Ds or Fs before the end of every six-week marking period.
•I agree to remember the hexagon when planning for students’ homework.
•I agree to be mindful of copyright rules and laws in planning my lessons.
•I agree to maintain the calendar and be open to resolving assessment/scheduling conflicts.
•I will be familiar with and enforce the honor code for students that says: I will always be able to sign my name to the following statement: On my honor, I promise that I have neither given nor received help on this assignment/examination, nor will I pass on information to others. I am not submitting the work of others as my own, nor have I used a computer translator. I will take appropriate action in the following ways to initiate investigation of a perceived violation: confront my peer, tell my teacher and inform the IB coordinator so we can all guard against malpractice within the program.
•I agree to support the program and encourage students to persevere.
•I agree to infuse international-mindedness into the program wherever and whenever I can.
•I agree to integrate Theory of Knowledge into the courses I teach.
•I agree to be the best teacher I can be every day.
Then the students also submit to the agreement upon participating in the International Baccalaureate program. Notice how the financial obligations to the student:
As a student of the International Baccalaureate Programme, I understand the following program components listed below and agree to adhere to them:
•I agree to be a full diploma program candidate and participate in all parts of the International Baccalaureate Programme hexagon through grades 11 and 12. I know that I must pass all my classes and will be removed from the program if I do not. I know that students are not
allowed to take singular IB courses.
•I know that I must have at least a 90% attendance rate in each IB course.
•I agree to engage in reading and academic dialogue about concepts, issues and life philosophies that may be different from my own. The IB requires an intercultural understanding of and respect for varying global perspectives.
•I agree to complete all required assessment components.
•I agree to participate fully in all required IB activities, both inside and outside the classroom. (What if they don't match a student's values?)
•I accept that a significant amount of work will be independent of my classes at this high school. (Less local control of education and more international influence)
•I will always be able to sign my name to the following statement: On my honor, I promise that I have neither given nor received help on this assignment/examination, nor will I pass on information to others. I am not submitting the work of others as my own, nor have I used a
computer translator. I will take appropriate action in the following ways to initiate investigation of a perceived violation: confront my peer, tell my teacher and inform the IB coordinator so we can all guard against malpractice within the program.
•I know that I will be removed from the program if I commit an act of academic dishonesty (see above).
•I agree to follow the guidelines of this high school's CAS (Creativity, Action, Service) program, be familiar with the CAS program guidebook and complete the expected requirements.
•I know I will be obligated to repay any incurred IB fees if I withdraw from the program and/or do not complete exams.
