Plastic Rice Served in China: Oh, But Obama Praised China in His State of the Union

Remember Obama's State of the Union Address? I know it's one you probably want to forget, but the praise for the Communist Chinese in the speech and all their accomplishments is something that still angers me.

Obama has got to kiss China's but because they have lent us so much of the stimulus money he has recklessly spent, but there is another unfortunate dependence the United States is finding itself needing China for, and that is cheap food imports. Have you bought fish at the grocery store lately--not the fresh, tasty kind at at the butcher's station. Rather the packaged fish in the frozen section. Have you seen where it was produced? A lot of it comes from China these days, and this is a trend that is becoming more common as Americans demand cheaper groceries. So consider this next story.

China’s history with food safety is a rocky one, but even in the annals of robbery and abuse, this will go down in infamy.

Various reports in Singapore media have said that Chinese companies are mass producing fake rice made, in part, out of plastic, according to one online publication Very Vietnam.

The “rice” is made by mixing potatoes, sweet potatoes and plastic. The potatoes are first formed into the shape of rice grains. Industrial synthetic resins are then added to the mix. The rice reportedly stays hard even after being cooked.

The Korean-language Weekly Hong Kong reported that the fake rice is being sold in the Chinese town of Taiyuan, in Shaanxi province.

"A Chinese Restaurant Association official said that eating three bowls of this fake rice would be like eating one plastic bag. Due to the seriousness of the matter, he added that there would be an investigation of factories alleged to be producing the rice," Very Vietnam noted.

Now think about that. What is plastic made out of? Petroleum--you know oil, and that's not the cooking kind either. Makes you think long and hard about the quality of food that's ending up at the grocery store that is imported from China, doesn't it?

So how about it Obama? Got some more praise for China?
