House Republicans Will Vote to Defund Obamacare Next Week

The House of Representin' will have a critical vote in front of it next week. On one hand, the bill sounds good. It will defund Obamacare. On the other hand, the bill only cuts $32 billion from federal spending. That's a far cry from the $100 billion Republicans promised to immediately cut.

The problem is of course, this is really a ceremonial vote. Once passed, it will go to the Senate, the same Senate that voted against the repeal of Obamacare. Since all appropriation bills start in the House, the Senate must approve the bill before it goes to the President's desk for his signature. While it's true the House controls the purse strings, this bill is not likely to pass in the Senate, nor will it receive Obama's blessing. Once again, it's quite meaningless, which means the states are going to have to use their power to continue to deny the mandate and force the law for review in front of the Supreme Court too.
