Big Sis Janet Napolitano's presence will be felt at the Super Bowl. She is bringing her "If You See Something, Say Something" 1984 Big Brother presence on monitors in Cowboy Stadium. As you might know by now, the federal government in investing millions in a video monitor network to expand the Department of Homeland Security's propaganda in common places like Walmart. How appropriate, the Super Bowl, the same series of games that brought us the classic Apple Mac commercial featuring the smashing of Big Brother will be the venue to actually introduce the monitors.
“We are partnering this year with the NFL on our ‘If You See Something, Say Something’ campaign and launching that NFL partnership right here at the Super Bowl,” Napolitano said during a press conference on Monday at Cowboy Stadium in Arlington, Texas where Sunday’s game will be played.
“The idea is simple,” Napolitano said. “We are simply asking the American people to be vigilant, recognizing that our security is a shared responsibility that all of us must participate in.”
“If a fan at the Super Bowl or any other American at any other place sees something that is potentially dangerous, then say something about it to local law enforcement or someone in authority,” Napolitano said.
Napolitano leads the same department that continues to conduct strip searches, grope Americans, and require American travelers to be scanned in naked body images. Now she is setting up a citizen spy network, conditioning Americans to rat out other Americans. While her intentions sound good to protect us from terrorism, let's not forget it was this same DHS that published a report defining average Americans as terrorist for taking such views as a pro-life stance or simply flying a Gadsden Flag. It won't be long until Americans start reporting other Americans simply for carrying hunting rifles to their cars, which will mess up your hunting trip very quickly.
The real problem is, Republicans, who promised to fight for Constitutional rights, are also throwing the Fourth Amendment out the door. Peter King has introduced a the "If You See Something Say Something Act of 2011," co-sponsored by self-proclaimed Tea Party members like Billy Long. This grows government, it further attacks the Constitution, and its simply overkill. You are more likely to get struck by lightning in America than you are to die in a terrorist attack.
